Inspired by the opening line in Dante Alighieri’s ‘La Divina Commedia’ (The Divine Comedy):

”Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita, mi ritrovai per una selva oscura, ché la diritta via era smarrita.”

”Midway upon the journey of our life I found myself within a dark forest,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost.”

It represents a very personal metaphor for a time in my life in which I felt a profound sense of directionlessness, confusion and disillusionment. The painting reflects the hope, transformation and awakening that emerged from it.
