Restless Wanderer
(Caminante)

Caminante, caminante
cuándo volverás….

Yet here you are again once more,
Leaving behind the old familiar shore,
The promise of the great unknown,
Feels more alive than hearth and home.

And means more than all you left behind,
The broken ties and roots you couldn’t find.
You want to immerse, dive in, and explore,
Eager to find meaning and desperate for more.

This time, you hope with a new spark you have found,
A connection will form and finally hold its ground,
Answering the question “Where are you from?”,
By shrugging your shoulders: “I leave and I come”.

As you wander on, trading jokes and banter,
Weaving joy into your journey and every encounter,
Memories you will cherish more than your grandmother’s touch,
Blocking out what makes you vulnerable too much.

Exploring the world and the earth beneath your stride,
But scared of exploring what you hold inside,
Not knowing that the places you hold so dear,
Are those you left behind, year after year.

Crossing rivers, climbing new heights,
Endless paths stretching in fading lights.
But the shadows you chase are your own creation,
Your back turned to the sun in self-chosen isolation.

And so you glance behind you and embrace,
The many moments that your mind won’t erase,
But glorify instead to protect you from pain,
And shield your heart from breaking again.

Restless wanderer, holding the world in your hand,
Seeking new horizons and footprints in the sand,
Don't you know the day you cease to roam,
Will be the day you arrive at your place called home.
